Tritons fall 0-1 to USC
In their first game back after winter break, UCSD played USC, a tough league opponent. Within the first 20 minutes of the first half, it was clear the Tritons would have relative control of the ball for most of the game. Forwards Paul Jasper and Kalani Takamura had some close shots, while USC had a couple of counterattacks that looked promising. However, neither team managed to find the back of the net by the end of the first.
The theme of the game continued into the second half, only more polarizing as the USC really struggled to crack UCSD’s defense. The Tritons had their chances, with near a couple more near misses from Kalani Takamura in addition to a pair of headers from Cade Krawiec and David Contreras. Unfortunately for San Diego, it would take one mental lapse on defense for USC to put one in off a long throw in. The Tritons would try to fight their way back but came up short as USC triumphed 1-0.
