Tritons Brave the Heat for Another Conference Win

When the Tritons pulled up to Fullerton College for their 3 pm game this Saturday, it was a toasty 90 degrees. The only thing motivating them to leave their air-conditioned cars was the prospect of another win against a conference team. The game started out slow for the Tritons who took a good part of the first quarter to get in their rhythm. However, once they started cleaning up their ground balls and taking care of possession, the Tritons couldn’t be stopped. Fullerton opted for a higher pressure defense so the ball rarely settled on the offensive side. Most of the goals resulted from 1v1 drives or free position shots. Due to the heat, both teams agreed to a running clock which kept the pace moving. The top scorer was Junior Captain Delainey Iles who put away 7 goals. Sophomore Sophia Terenik came out with 3 goals and 3 assists. Notable mentions include Junior Captain Ellen Jurgens (2 goals), Sophomore Kayla Tracy (2 goals), Junior Gillian Husovsky (1 goal), Sophomore Heather Hirsch (1 goal), and Freshman Emily Schittino (1 goal). Freshman Goalkeeper Lindsay Rubin faced 10 shots on goals and made 4 saves.
