This past weekend, Oct 15-16, the Psychos went to their first tournament of the year with all their rookies in tow. The Psychos split into two teams–X and Y. On the first day, team X played four games. The first three games were in pool play, where they matched up against SDSU Y, SDSU alum, and Arizona State University. They lost these first three games, but grew as a team. They had one more crossover game against the University of Arizona. In this game, the returners Maria “Fluxx” Zavala, Dena “Chrome” Elimelech, and Kelli “Krypto” Iwamoto ran the show to bring the team their first victory.  The UC San Diego Y team, under captain Rachel “Rue” Ling took on Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, and SDSU X. Using their rookies effectively they managed to win all of those games.

Team X beat SDSU X to start their second day, while Team Y played Arizona State University in a tight game, but ultimately won in the end. Both teams were into the semis and would have to play each other for a spot in the finals. However, the two UC San Diego teams decided to play a friendly scrimmage instead and combine to play a combined SDSU in the finals for a bucket with some foam on top. Playing two rookies on every line, the Psychos beat SDSU in a competitive game. To top it off, the Psycho rookie line took the final point against the SDSU rookies.
