This past weekend your esteemed gentlemen of UC Slam Diego competed in our first tournament since we split into teams. Waking up early to drive to USC Tanner ‘sleeping beauty 2.0’ Hixon was apparently too sleepy and didn’t even wake up when Stefan ‘wannabe libero’ knocked on his door. This left the big man and Anders ‘overpass king’ Johnson to gruel it out in the middle. Jon ‘POTUS’ Maroun couldn’t make it since he had presidential duties to attend to so Max ‘hype beast’ Luck and Lucas ‘nick’ Rodrigues set up butter for their hitters. The gentlemen of UC Slam Diego won their first two matches easily thanks to some play by a multitude of rotating lineups. Hunter ‘Kaiao?’ Zeng and Nic ‘who’s your daddy’ Maroun rocked it in the libero spot and Blake ‘I bring my girlfriend to games’ Cornell along with Tim ‘spear fisher’ Green killed it at opposite. During the matches against the USC alumni and UCLA, Ryan ‘highlight reel’ Schickling had so many highlights at outside he played the whole time leaving Carlos ‘big baller’ Rivera, Jackson ‘the wall’ Mcdonough, and Chris ‘takes 30 minutes to warm up’ Shaffer to slam at the other outside spot. Although we lost to UCLA in playoffs a 3rd place finish is respectable and can only lead to better things to come.
