The Fall 2017 SD Clasico lived up to the hype as both teams played out a hard-fought, entertaining 2-2 draw on October 7th. UCSD dominated the first half as goals from Jonah Gooden and Christian Gunther put the Tritons in the driver’s seat at halftime. However, a second half comeback from the Aztecs resulted in a pair of goals to change the momentum of the game. Both teams had plenty of chances to win the tie but poor finishing led to a stalemate at the final whistle. The draw left a bitter taste in the mouths of the Tritons but it is still a good result against a solid side.
