Our team dominated at The Southwest Division Championship!  This marks our 4th consecutive regional division win! With a 3-0 record on the weekend, our team secured their spot at Nationals. This tournament was a round robin style 2 bracket tournament. This tournament also marks the end to our B team’s successful and competitive season as only one team from the Southwest Division is able to compete for a National championship.

Placing 1st and 5th in our regular season, our A team and B team were scheduled to face off against each other in our first game of the tournament. We decided to forfeit the game to the A team and instead use the pool time available to warm up for later games. Our B team will have the opportunity to show their force on a later date in practice!

Our B team’s second game of the tournament was against USD.  The game was very competitive. The lead continuously changed throughout the course of the game. Sadly, our B team was not able to pull away with a victory. The final score of the game was 6-9.

Our A team’s second match of the tournament was also against USD. The A team set the tone of the game early by scoring several unanswered goals.  During the remainder of the game, our A team continued to stretch their lead over USD.  The final score of the game was 17-7.

Placing third in the tournament’s A bracket, our B team was scheduled to play against the third place team of the tournament’s B bracket: ASU’s A team.  Once again our B team played a very competitive 1 point ball-game.  Unfortunately, they were unable to seal a win.  The final score of the game was 9-10 .

Placing first in the tournament’s A bracket, our A team was scheduled to play against the first place team of the tournament’s B bracket: UCI.  Our A team began the game with a stellar first half: 8-3.  During the second half of the game, UCI was able to recover.  Nevertheless, our A team was able to come out of the game with a victory.  The final score of the game was 11-9. 

As Southwest 2022 regional champions, our team cannot wait to have another shot at a National Championship! Placing 2nd at Nationals last year, we are hungry for the national championship!
