The University of California San Diego Air Squids close out the preseason with SoCal Warmup, a tournament held at UCSD where teams from all over the Southwest region participated in. Like every year, the Air Squids separated themselves into three teams. Team Q-Tip Quiche took to the fields with a large Q exalted across their white tees. Team Rubber Ducky swaggered out on Saturday afternoon with the pride of joy of their spray painted Rubber Ducky mascot. Team Send It stenciled the running man on their tees and came out chanting their fiery motto of “Just Send It.”

Each team played their hearts out against a variety of teams all across the Southwest region. However, the games played between the UCSD team were fought with passion and ferocity. On day one, Q-Tip Quiche took down Send it in an overwhelming win. On day 2 Rubber Ducky put up quite the valiant effort against Q-Tip Quiche but was defeated 13-4. This win crowned Q-Tip Quiche the undisputed best Air Squid team for SoCal Warmup 2017. Other notable games were Q-Tip Quiche’s heated battle against ASU’s A-team, which featured incredible feats of athleticism, resilience, and passion on both sides, and Send It’s crushing win against Santa Barbara’s Black Tide. Ultimately, returners and rookies both had a blast playing with and against each other. Throughout the tournament the younger members showed clear signs of growth, and by the end of the tournament they were executing ultimate at a very high level.
