Sailors brave the challenge of the Conference Championships
Six Triton sailors traveled to Fall PCCs in Santa Barbara from April 8th to 10th to compete in both team racing and fleet racing. On Friday, the wind condition started off light but became gustier throughout the day. The sailors managed to sail well in varying wind conditions by constantly adjusting the settings. The Triton team successfully established a clear line of communication on the water despite challenges due to the nature of team racing. Some of the sailors sailed 420s for the first time - it is always exciting to accumulate new boat-handling skills on a new kind of sailboat.
On Saturday, our Triton sailors got to sharpen their skills on some choppy water with a light breeze, which was quite mentally challenging. After a strenuous day of racing, the team was able to participate in a fleet BBQ and F-1 watching get-together. On Sunday, the wind was consistent and our sailors were able to race in the sunny Santa Barbara weather! The trip was successfully concluded with a grand Olive Garden feast with lots of free breadsticks. Big shout out to Coach Robert who offered great coaching advice on-shore, the trip wouldn’t be the same without you!
