Wolfpack Scramble to Defeat the Tritons

On Sunday November 22, the UC San Diego Women’s Rugby Team played the Fullerton Women’s Rugby Club in a preseason match. By the end of the first quarter, Wolfpack Fullerton had 2 tries and no conversions while the Tritons had 1 try made by Wing Ly with a conversion kick by Jaylin Stevenson. Once the second quarter started, the Wolfpack was able to put another try on the board but this was quickly followed by Triton Wing Ly scoring her second try of the game with the attempted conversion kick by Maria Bellamacina.

In the third quarter, the Tritons held their own but unfortunately the Wolfpack pushed through with 2 more tries but did not make the conversions. In the last quarter, Ciara Black and McKenzie Bolden scored a try each and one conversion between the two. However, in the last 7 minutes of the game, Wolfpack was able to push themselves into the lead with one last try and making the conversion. Even after a tough fight, the Tritons came second the Fullerton with a score of 22-29.
