UC San Diego at Aztec Invitational

The UC San Diego Women’s Volleyball Club tied for third place in the Aztec Invitational last weekend. The team came out swinging as they swept their pool, which included UCSB-B, Cal Poly Pomona, and UCI. The team then beat CSU Fullerton in two games during their crossover match, leaving UC San Diego in fourth place of the gold bracket for the next day. Sunday started off with a rematch with UCSB-B in the quarter finals. Sarah (Smack That) Reinhart stayed aggressive as she helped bring the team out of a quick lull in the second game, with the help of the setting of Gina (The Rock) Powers. UCSB-B was taken care of as UC San Diego moved to the quarter finals against the SDSU alumni team. The team battled as Nataly Aguilar and Emma Choi kept serve receive consistent to allow all of the hitters to keep swinging. In the end, SDSU alumni dug one too many balls as SDSU alumni won 16-14 in the third game.
