In the 2016 spring season home opener, UC San Diego defeated UC Irvine B 2-0. Like a group of dudes from an all-boys school, the Tritons came out thirsting for goals. Early on Kenan “Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” Mesic slipped a beautifully weighted pass, behind the defense, into the path of Jon “I Own a Mustang” Clausen. Clausen thwacked the ball past the goalie making the ol’ onion bag burst. Tritons 1-0. The Tritons came back, unsatisfied with how long it took to score the first goal, and scored again. Kazu “Honorary Cap” Otani saw Quinn “Sadboi” Frantzen making a run past the defense and lightly guided the ball behind the defense to his feet. “Sadboi” Frantzen powered the ball across the goal into Clausen who added another onion to the ol’ onion bag. Tritons 2-0. With the game sewn up at halftime, UC San Diego transformed into FC Barcelona, keeping possession for the entirety of the 2nd half and not misplacing a single pass. The Tritons remain undefeated and will rest up before the highly-anticipated clash with SDSU on February 20th.
