UC San Diego Finishes Spring League Undefeated
This past weekend, on March 5th, UC San Diego Women’s Club Soccer travelled to UC Riverside for their final game of Spring League. After several administrative errors that led to a delayed game, the match started off to a slow with neither team being able to maintain strong possession on the bumpy field. With few substantial chances produced by either team, the first half ended in a 0-0 score.
The second half showed more promise as the Tritons were able to string together more passes. Early on, junior midfielder Monica Cuevas fed the ball through to senior forward Olivia Hadidian, who kept cool composure on the breakaway and slotted the ball home to put the Tritons into the lead. However, late in the second half UC Riverside capitalized on defensive mistakes and scored a goal to tie up the game. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, the only tie of the season for the Tritons. This game left the Women’s Club Soccer team undefeated and in first place for the league.
