Tritons Continue Hot Streak

After having a weekend off, the Tritons looked to continue their hot streak with two games at home. The first came against rivals UC Santa Barbara. The scoring started early, as the Gauchos were the first on the board. The Tritons were able to come back and take the lead with goals from Patrick Salmas and Aaron Gunn, before the Gauchos tied the game up shortly after.  With only a few minutes left in the game, Salmas netted his second of the game to give the Tritons a 3-2 lead at the end of the first. In the second, the hard play continued as both sides fought and scored two goals each, as Triton defensemen Dan Rey and forward Zane Curdes each tallied a goal, maintaining the Tritons one goal lead. Half way through the third and final period, the Gauchos tied the game up, 4-4. With only 3 minutes left, Salmas scored his third of the night to secure a hat trick with what would end up being the game winning goal, and scored his fourth of the night to put the Gauchos

The next afternoon, the Tritons were set to face the Ventura County Corsairs. After coming off of a hard game the night before, the Tritons looked a bit slow as Ventura took an early 2-0 lead, however, Captain Dylan Shives was able to cut the lead to 1 only seconds after. In the second period the Tritons were unable to score as the Corsairs extended their lead to 4-1, and late in the second, Shives was taken out of the game with a concussion. Late in the third, the Tritons fought back hard and scored 2 goals with only seconds remaining. However, it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback, and the Tritons lost 5-4.
