Tritons Struggle against Chapman in Double Header
The first of two meeting this week between the Tritons and Chapman Panthers took place in the form of an exhibition game at the Honda Center. While the Tritons would not end up winning, the game was fun for all involved as the players got to skate on the same ice that some of their heroes have. On Friday night, the teams met again in San Diego for the last regular season game of the season. The Tritons struggled early as Chapman took a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Tritons problems would continue into the second, as they were unable to score, and the Panthers doubled their lead to 4-0. Chapman would net one more goal early in the third, before rookie Grant Marcy answered only 18 seconds later to give the Tritons life. Unfortunately, the Panthers would score once more before the end of the game, and the Tritons fell 6-1. With Regionals right around the corner, the Tritons need to focus on defending the California Cup Championship.
