This Halloween weekend, the UC San Diego English Equestrian Team traveled to Cal Poly Pomona to compete in the first show of the year. We had an amazing debut showing, with all 6 of the competing girls making UCSD proud with their excellent riding. On the first day, Becca Huntly-Playle placed second in the open fences class, Aleena Karamally placed third in intermediate fences, Anna Young placed sixth in intermediate fences. In the flat class, Karamally placed first in intermediate flat, Bahar Salehi placed fifth in advanced walk-trot-canter, and Alyssa Franklin was awarded reserve in beginning walk-trot-canter. Additionally, Karamally won reserve high point rider for Saturday, meaning that she won the most points as an individual for the day. On Sunday over fences, Karamally placed fourth over intermediate fences and Young was awarded reserve in intermediate fences. In the flat class, Huntly-Playle placed third in open flat, Moller was awarded reserve in open flat, and Salehi placed third in advanced walk-trot-canter. A very special thank you to Arianna Gorman, who was the horse manager for UCSD this weekend as she had chosen to not show at CPP. She was responsible for the care of the two UCSD horses, C and Bee, as well as handling the horses while the riders mounted and dismounted, and she handled her hectic job with skill. Well done all around this weekend, and good luck at the UCSD hosted show next weekend ladies!
