The Tritons started their season with the Dennis Storer Classic Tournament at UCLA. With four games ahead of them, they are going to try to get some good play before the season. The first game of the day was against UC Davis and the Tritons needed to start out strong to set the tone for the rest of the day. Starting out, the Tritons were able to score first over UC Davis with Ryan Callahan running in a try from the edge and starting the momentum of the game. With the Tritons up in the lead, A set up for Ryan Morgan to run in a score over UC Davis finished off the first half. The second half started with Davis taking charge and driving the offence but Matt Vanni was able to snag an interception and leak out a 90 meter try for the Tritons with Jonathan Reyes kicking the conversion to taking the half. UC Davis did try to bring back the score but was only able to get a last minute try in the corner, securing the win for the Tritons.
The rest of the day was not met with success as the second game against UCLA was met with a shutout against the Tritons. They tried to clean it up and tried for the next close game against UC Santa Cruz. The game against Santa Cruz was a closer game. The Tritons were able to score after a struggle moving back and forth but sadly were not able to win as Santa Cruz had scored more times than the Tritons in the first half. The last game of tournament against UC Berkeley was going to be tough since not a single team had been able to put a score against them all day. After a rough first half and difficult second, the Tritons were able to get some points on Berkeley as Matt Vanni was able to slip though a tackle and put down the only try against UC Berkeley after all their games in the tournament. Jonathan Reyes was able to put in a conversion, but one score was not enough to bring the momentum and Berkeley continued to dominate the tournament. The Tritons are hopeful for the season and are able to clean up their mistakes that they have had over the break but still have another game to flesh things out before the season begins for the Tritons.
