CWPA Tournament 1
The first CWPA tournament of the season, hosted by San Diego State University, was a success! The tournament marked the beginning of our competitive season. Both our A and B team had a successful weekend, cumulatively finishing the tournament with a 6-1 record.
A team’s first matchup of the tournament was against Arizona State University A team. The game started out slow and heavily defensive. However, as the game progressed, we were able to pull away from the Sun-Devils. The final score of the game was 11-8, Triton win! Our A team’s second matchup was scheduled against GCU. However, GCU forfeited the game as they did not have a full roster due to injuries. A team’s third game of the weekend was against UCI. Our A team kicked off the game by scoring multiple unanswered goals. However, UCI was able to recover in the second quarter. During the second half of the game, the A team stretched their lead. The final score of the game was 18-10. Our A team’s final matchup of the weekend was against USD. The game started out slow and close, but the A team recovered during the second half of the game scoring 10 unanswered goals in the second half. The game’s final score was 17-7, Triton win!
B team’s first game was against GCU. The B team set the tempo of their game early by scoring multiple unanswered goals. The game’s final score was 10-5, Triton win! Our B team’s second matchup was against ASU A team. The game was a battle till the very end as the lead continuously fluctuated. Unfortunately, our B team was not able to pull away with a win. The final score of the game was 11-12. Our B team’s final game of the tournament was against UCI. Again, the B team had a very close and competitive game. Our B team was finally able to pull away from UCI in the fourth quarter. The game’s final score was 13-11.
Our A team ended the tournament with a 4-0 record, and our B team ended the tournament with a 2-1 record. The tournament was a great start to our competitive season. The exceptional results of the first CWPA tournament will fuel the momentum we can carry through the upcoming, second CWPA tournament!
