Disappointing 3-3 tie vs San Marcos
UCSD faced off against CSUSM, looking to increase their winning streak in league games to three. Winger Zachary Boender opened up the scoring in the first half, putting the Tritons up 1-0 with a tap in around the middle of the box. About 15 minutes later, San Marcos would even the score to 1-1 after a scuffed cross ended up past goalkeeper Austin Cozzi. To wrap up the half, midfielder Luca Scotzniovsky would net another tap in goal for the Tritons.
In the second half, forward Ben Tsuda extended the UCSD lead to 3-1 with another tap in goal. The Tritons controlled most of the second half, but really started to falter in the last 15 minutes. San Marcos had repeated offensive possessions, and eventually scored on one of them, lobbing a ball over goalkeeper Jorge Mendoza’s head. On the last play of the game, CSUSM earned a free kick, to which they would score. 3-3 final.
