The USA Nationals competition from February 25 to 27 was UC San Diego Cheer Team’s very first competition in over 5 years! The cheer team perfected two performances that displayed the hard work and solid effort of both the coaches and the team members. Although the competition was fierce, the Triton team competed in two divisions, despite the shockingly large number of teams that they had to battle. In the first division, UCSD performed their crowd favorite and leading routine that included shouts and cheers in hopes of rallying the audience. That is exactly what UCSD received, as it was loved by the crowd. Unfortunately, we didn't receive any place for this division. However, in the fight song division that the Tritons also competed in, UCSD was awarded 2nd place, which was very much unexpected and surprising but goes to show the power and unpredictability of the UCSD cheer team. After not competing in years, members of the cheer team were extremely proud of their accomplishments as a team and hope to continue competing in the years to come.
