The UC San Diego Field Hockey team played back to back games this weekend during their first travel weekend of the season. On Saturday night they took on the Gauchos in Santa Barbara coming onto the field strong. Vikas Chinnappa scored in the first half making it the team’s first goal of the season! San Diego’s goalie Erika Nilsson stepped up and had some awesome saves in the cage several times throughout the game. The team played hard and kept up the teamwork through the second half but in the end Santa Barbara ended the game with two goals making the final score 1-2.

On Sunday the Tritons got up bright and early to take on the Serpents in Claremont. Even though the team was on minimal sleep everyone came out to the field pumped up and ready to go. Abby Sumi would start off the game with a goal within the first 15 minutes of the half followed by two more from Vinnu Bhardwaj. The team kept up their passing game into the second half and played a great game of hockey with Vinnu scoring within the first 3 minutes of the half. Abby and Vinnu would together score another three goals for the team before the final whistle. The game ended with the Tritons up 6-1 making for quite the victory to conclude the long weekend.
