Back on Our Home Course!
After the last year was canceled due to COVID UCSD triathlon club was able to host their home race again, Tritonman. 575 athletes from other colleges and the community came to race in the event at Mission Bay, known to be the birthplace of the triathlon. While not many members of the UCSD team were able to participate due to the volunteer demand needed to host the race, several members did, some doing their first ever triathlon. Saturday’s race was the Draft Legal competition, and Joanna Coker, Rahul Chavan, and Brody Topil were the athletes representing UCSD. The race ran smoothly thanks to the hard work of this year's race director, Paul Lathrop, and all of the volunteers who got to Mission Bay at 4 a.m. both days to set up the course and stand in position throughout to make sure athletes went through smoothly. The weekend was fun and an accomplishment for everyone involved, and the team looks forward to hosting this race again in the future.
