Arizona Competition Ski/Boardercross Places well for UCSD!
The team took a trip over to the cactus state to compete in the first competition of the season! The park crew was stoked with the amount of snow they had to play with this year and were able to bless us with an amazing course. The cross course was around a minute long and consisted of 11 turns, 2 jumps, and several rollers. In this event, the racers are divided into heats of 4 who race head to head. The top 2 finishers advanced into the next round until the finals.
We had two full days of competition with separate brackets for each of the days. For our male snowboarders we had a quarter final finish from Andrew Keller over both days. For our female snowboards we had a podium appearance from 1st year, Clio Goodwin, finishing in 3rd place. We also had top finishes from Josephine Nguyen in 4th and Hailey Heirigs in 6th. For our male skiers, we had a podium finish from Guy Zamir, receiving 3rd place. We also had top finishes from Seiji Minowada in 8th and Bryce Horowitz in 7th. For our female skiers we had top finishes from both Kiley Hearst in 6th and Martina Danieli in 7th. Overall, stoked with our performance for our first competition of the season.
