Women’s Lacrosse: April 2nd and 3rd

This past weekend, April 2nd, The UC San Diego Women’s Lacrosse Club played their last two season games. Saturday night, the lady Tritons traveled to Los Angeles to face Loyola Marymount University.  The Tritons came out guns a’blazin with a whopping 10 goals in the first half.  Despite some defensive lapses, with 8 different overall scorers the Tritons were able to end the game on top with a score of 13-7.  Game MVP Michaela Juels and Midfielder Tace Higuchi led the team with three goals each. Goalie Kayla Ostiller was able to shut down the Lions, scoring zero goals in the first half of the game.  The Tritons saw an outstanding performance by Freshman Maria McCavitt, finishing off the game with a check and a goal.

Sunday, April 3rd, UC San Diego hosted their final game of the season on Muir Field facing the Concordia Eagles.  The fans were in for a nail-biter, as the game went down to the wire.  The Tritons fell one goal short to the Eagles’, losing on an overtime 8-meter shot.  Game MVP Kayla Ostiller had a whopping 14 saves in the game.  Kayla was supported on Defense with an outstanding performance by Laura Darken.  She stuck to Concordia’s top scorer like glue.  Despite the loss, the Tritons stuck around celebrating their graduating seniors’ last league game.

The Tritons will continue training this week as they wait to find out whether they will be traveling to Santa Barbara to attend WWLL Playoffs.

The Ladies find out their fate next Monday. Stay Tuned!
