UC San Diego Women’s Club Rugby kicked off their season on Saturday, October 22nd with a win over UC Irvine. The Tritons travelled to Fullerton to play and came out strong in the first quarter by scoring the first try. With many of the rookies coming out, players were switched in and out of the game each quarter to give everyone a chance to play and try a new position. Each time the Tritons scored, UC Irvine answered back with their own try, but they were no match to the Triton’s fast offense and persistent defense. The final score was 35-22. This was a great way to start the season, and, as a predominantly rookie team, as long as the Tritons keep progressing and improving as a whole, they should have a great season.
