5/6/24 - #11 UCSD Falls to #6 Florida Atlantic
In the MCLA National Tournament in Austin, Texas, the #11-ranked UC San Diego Tritons suffered a tough loss to the #6-ranked Florida Atlantic University Owls, despite a strong start. The Tritons jumped out to a 2-0 lead early on, but the Owls quickly responded to level the score. The game remained fiercely contested through the first three quarters, with both teams exchanging goals and maintaining a close scoreline. However, in the fourth quarter, FAU went on a five-goal run to secure a decisive victory and end the Tritons' season. Despite the loss, there were notable performances from Billy Mack, who netted an electrifying goal, as well as standout contributions from Austin Ortel and Alex Franz.
This concludes the 2023-2024 UCSD season with a final record of 8-5. While not the result they wanted, there's optimism for next year as the Tritons made it to both the conference championship and national tournament once again, and they look forward to overcoming the hurdle next season.
