4/6/24 - UCSD Rocks the Bay Area Super Ball
The UC San Diego Ballroom Team recently made their debut at the inaugural Stanford Super Ball, marking their first venture to the Bay Area. With high spirits and competitive energy, they took to the city and the dance floor with gusto, showcasing their talent and dedication in various categories.
In the Newcomer latin division, Brandon Torres and Valeria (Yeya) Corona dominated, securing multiple first-place finishes in International Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive, cementing their status as standouts of the competition. Meanwhile, Mars and Cadie impressed with a solid 4th place in the Newcomer V Waltz category.
Brian Chang and Chloe Kurihara represented UCSD admirably, achieving notable placements across all 4 styles in both bronze and silver events, highlighting their versatility and skill across different styles.
The team's foray into American Smooth was met with success, with Mars and Karsten achieving commendable results in Bronze American Waltz and Foxtrot, and Chloe Care and Karsten West making the finals in Newcomer American Waltz.
In the Latin division, Willard Ford and Blanca Martin showcased their prowess by clinching 5th place in Open Pre-Champ Latin, displaying their mastery of the fiery dance styles. Jesse Ren and Greta Davis left their mark with an impressive 4th place finish, showcasing their talent and dedication on the dance floor.
The Rhythm section saw UCSD's second outing in the style, with Roger Nguyen and Cadie Sparks securing a solid 4th place in Newcomer Cha Cha, while Cole Spencer and Ning Kuo also made their mark with a 5th place in other American Rhythm dances.
Brian and Chloe's dynamic performances continued in the Advanced Nightclub dances, earning them well-deserved recognition, while their consistent presence in the Silver events across Latin and American Rhythm underscored their commitment and skill.
Overall, the UCSD Ballroom Team's debut at the Stanford Super Ball was a resounding success, demonstrating their talent, teamwork, and determination to excel in the competitive dance circuit.
