4/24/25 - Tritons Dominate Rival Scrimmage with 7-0 Victory Against SDSU
The UC San Diego field hockey team delivered a dominant performance in a scrimmage against cross-town rivals San Diego State, securing a 7-0 victory. From the first whistle, UCSD’s team chemistry, crisp passing, and strong communication were on full display. The scoring started early in the first quarter when Xabier Rubio Frances put UCSD on the board. In the second quarter, James Polashock extended the lead with a clean goal, and followed it up later with a powerful tomahawk shot to make it 3-0 heading into halftime.
The Tritons kept their momentum going into the fourth quarter. Addy Rodriguez scored on a well-executed short corner, and Emily Landers followed with another short corner goal. Rubio Frances struck again to widen the gap, and Rodriguez capped off the game with a powerful tomahawk shot. It was a full team effort, and the energy on and off the field reflected the strong bond within the squad. We love scrimmaging against our cross-town rivals and are already excited for the next opportunity to compete and continue growing as a team!
