4/19-4/21/24 - UCLA Tournament
The Tritons started off the UCLA tournament against a tough UC Davis side. UCSD started off the game strong with an early goal from Suhana Singh off of a Darya Abolmaali cross. UC Davis fought back hard throughout the rest of the game with both sides getting some close chances but UCSD pulled out a tight 1-0 victory.
Later in the afternoon, UCSD faced Cal in the second game of the tournament. The Tritons started the game off strong with a goal from Mia Fava after a good run from Hannah Waki. Suhana Singh added to the scoring after beating the goalie 1v1 off a through ball from Mia Fava. At the end of the half, Jess Madott made it 3-0 after finishing a scrappy play in the box. The second half was a bit slower for UCSD as Cal got on the board a few minutes into the half. After back and forth play, the Tritons added their final goal from Mia Fava with a great play from Allie Spong and Madeline Welch making the final score 4-1 Tritons
In the semifinals of the tournament, UCSD took on UCLA. The first half was very even with both teams having many chances to score and at halftime it remained scoreless. The Tritons came out hard in the second half fighting for a goal and a few close chances from Jordan Needham and Jada Romero almost gave UCSD the lead. With ten minutes left to play, UCLA scored an unfortunate goal off of a cross that gave them the 1-0 win. Despite the semifinal loss, the Tritons finish their successful season with their heads high and look forward to next year's games.
