4/19/24 - League Tournament 2 at Arizona State University
The Tritons braved the heat this weekend by traveling out to ASU for their second league tournament of the season. They played well and used it as an opportunity to prepare for the Southwest Division Championship, which is this upcoming weekend!
The UCSD B team had some tough matchups this weekend but played well as a team all weekend to put goals on the board. They ran a stellar defense against all 4 teams, making a total of 43 steals. Shoutout to Beth Flynn, who held it down in the goal with 29 blocks! They opened the weekend with a game against UCI (2-9), then faced SDSU B (3-5). On Sunday, they played ASU (4-12) and finished it off with a great win against U of A (8-3). Shoutout to Clio Goodwin for being the B team’s top scorer this weekend!
The UCSD A team had an incredibly successful weekend, winning all 4 games. First, they played U of A (15-1). Of note during this game was that Kayleigh Dennen won all 3 sprints that she participated in and drew 2 ejections. Next up was SDSU A (9-4). The Tritons went into the 2nd quarter down by 1 goal, but then scored 6 goals in the second quarter while ensuring that the other team scored 0. On Sunday, they played SDSU B (18-2) and UCI (17-3). The A team’s performance this weekend, combined with the results of the first league tournament, earned them the top seed in the Division Champs bracket.
Come out and support both the A and B team this weekend, at Triton Pool, as they fight to win the bracket - which would put them on track to the National Championship in Texas!
