Tritons Welcome Bruins To Field Hockey

In their first home game of the season, UCSD was triumphant against UCLA with a final score of 2 to 0. UCLA’s defense was not a force to be reckoned with but that did not stop returning player Anna McQuarrie as she made a shot at the goal. UCSD took the lead as the ball narrowly passed the goalie. Both teams immediately played harder but returning player Anna Whalen kept her composure as she looked for an opening and scored another point in the third quarter of the game. One of the best highlights was the sister to sister passes between senior player Mina Balen and freshman player Katie Balen as both perfectly worked together to get the ball down the field. In the end, the player of the game would have to go to Luisa Ayala as center defense. She patiently observed, provided guidance to fellow team members, and made her move against UCLA’s offense despite their numerous attempts at trying to score a goal. Even though UCSD won, UCSD is even happier to welcome another college to the season and be a part of UCLA’s first ever game. UCSD is looking forward to playing against them and other schools in the near future as the season progresses!
