The UCSD Surf Team travelled to Ventura Harbor for their first contest of the season. It was a beautiful day for surfing, with 4-6ft swell and great weather conditions, according to their president Ryan Parkes. Overall, the team put solid scores on the board, with multiple short boarders and long boarders making it to the later rounds. In these rounds, the team stayed together and rooted on the athletes still in the competition. The team placed 8th overall, with Makena Burke winning 1st place for women’s shortboard!  Here, you can see Makena and her teammates celebrating her 1st place win. Go Makena and Go Tritons!
