3/9-3/10/24 - UCSD sails a Catalina 37 at the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup
After driving up just outside the Port of LA Thursday morning, our team of eight crew members set sail for their first day of practice for Harbor cup. The team was preparing their best in the boat by practicing before the start of each day of racing, as well as taking Friday to get the maneuvers down! This weekend was focused on getting the team more keelboat experience against other boats. While it was a tough weekend, a big highlight was getting 1st place in one of the races Saturday. They got off five races on Saturday, with an average of 15-18 knots the whole weekend by midday. Despite only getting two races off on Sunday, the team spent the whole weekend on the water for some great experience. Our crew was sailing a Catalina 37 that was chartered from the Long Beach Sailing Foundation. Thank you so much to Coach Robert for coming up to coach as well and Cal Maritime for helping host!
