3/30/24 - UCSD Gymnastics at the Cal Berkeley 2nd UnBEARably Big Whoop-de-doo

On Saturday, three members of the club gymnastics team competed at Cal Berkeley’s meet, the 2nd UnBEARably Big Whoop-de-doo. This was the Tritons’ last meet before Nationals, and they brought newly polished routines to the competition. The team enjoyed competing alongside several other teams from across California, including Silicon Valley Gymnastics Club, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, San Jose State University, and Cal Berkeley.

All three athletes placed on their respective events. Seniors Elise Jonas-Delson and Annika Sy returned with solid routines on their MAG events, with Annika placing third on parallel bars and first on high bar, and Elise placing first on rings. Elise also placed third on WAG uneven bars to round out her events. Meanwhile, freshman Roxanne Mayali achieved first on vault, second on uneven bars, first on balance beam and third on floor, earning her first place in the all around.

With many successes, the Tritons are excited to keep up the momentum in the next few weeks as they soon head to Albuquerque, NM for NAIGC Nationals.
