This past weekend, the UCSD Gymnastics hosted their first-ever meet in program history! The Triton Coastal Classic was the first meet to be put on by the club, and there were enormous successes as 96 athletes across 9 total collegiate and community groups came to compete. The team hosted UCLA, UCSB, UCD, SDSU, USC, NAU, 5280 Gymnastics, and Independent Community athletes. Not only was this the first time for the team to host a meet, but it was also sanctioned by NAIGC, for which it received national recognition and official judges.

Across two different sessions, the UCSD gymnastics team gave nothing short of fantastic routines and was competitive amongst the rest. Each and every gymnast gave it their all, but most importantly, had fun doing it. There were a total of 15 athletes competing for UCSD spanning across all levels, events, and disciplines. Some of our athletes also competed in both men's and women's events, including Annika Sy, Tessa Gluckman, Luya Wei, and Elise Jonas-Delson. Several team alumni also came back to compete as independent community athletes and performed fun and beautifully-executed routines, and it was great to see them again!

We had several members of the team place top 3 in their events for their levels including Morgan Ayan and Alyssa Ayan for Xcel Silver, Malia Lewton, Roxanne Mayali and Kristina Ma for women’s Xcel Platinum, Tessa Gluckman, Elise Jonas-Delson and Annika Sy for men's level 7, Sarah Mackey for women’s Level 8, and Cannon Wurster, Tuomas Oikarinen, and Ari Pasha for men’s Level 9. Overall, the team placed very well, and is now ready for the rest of the competition season and the road to the National Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

The meet was a massive success in various ways, and the team looks forward to hosting again next year with hopes of having more successful and memorable home meets. The UCSD Club Gymnastics Team is looking strong and ready to go for the rest of the season!
