3/2/25 - Triton Coastal Classic
The UCSD Gymnastics club team hosted our official, NAIGC-sanctioned meet on Sunday, March 2nd. This is our second annual, and it has grown so much from the previous year. The meet was a great success, knowing that we had hundreds of competitors from around the country, including 10 different teams. UCSD Club Gymnastics performed amazingly at the competition, so let’s show some of the highlights of the incredible team from this well-anticipated and flip filled event!
Starting off with our Xcel Silvers: Alexa Reyes got first place on floor and all around, and Morgan Ayan got second place on beam and all around; additionally, Joey Ransdell got first place on bars and beam. We’re so proud of our amazing silvers! The Xcel Platinums also had an amazing competition and even had a podium sweep! Roxanne Mayali got first place on beam and second place on bars and vault. Kristina Ma got second place on vault as well. Kaitlyn Fong had an insane meet, getting first place on vault and all around, as well as second on beam. But the most impressive feat was her perfect 10.0 score on floor! These perfect scores are rarely given out due to the high standards, making it that much more exciting. It’s the first perfect 10 score the team has had in four years.
Following the pattern, the Xcel Diamonds also had a great meet. Mia Roe got third place on floor, vault, and all around. Liliana Echevarria also got third place on vault. Victoria Paulo got first place on vault, as well as third place on beam and floor. Finally, for our diamonds, Malia Lewton got first place on floor and second place on beam.
Next up is our Level 9s, where Raina Eghbalyans had an amazing meet, winning all 5 event categories: floor, vault, bars, beam, and all-around. Sarah Mackey got second place on vault and upgraded skills on the majority of her events.
To close out, our men’s competitors also had an impressive performance throughout the entire meet. For our MAG Developmental competitors: Raina Eghbalyans got first place on rings. Mia Roe and Victoria Paulo got first place on pommel. Luya Wei also won first place on the pommel horse. For MAG Intermediate, Ari Pasha got first place on floor, pommel, rings, and vault and second place on parallel bars, high bars, and all-around.
Overall, the UCSD Club Gymnastics team both hosted an amazing meet and competed just as well on Sunday, March 2nd, and we can’t wait to see how the members do at the upcoming meets!!
