3/16/24 - UCSD Gymnastics Gains Momentum at Pauley Palooza

The UCSD Gymnastics is at it again, this time going to UCLA’s Pauley Palooza Invitational on March 16th! The Tritons had a great show-out as 14 total members came and competed against UCLA, Cal, ASU, UCSB, and Independent Community Athletes in Pauley Pavilion. The team has so much to be proud of as the skills and routines only continued to grow from the beginning of the season to now, and there is much more confidence in the team overall.

Not only did routines improve, but a lot of the team also made top 3 in their events. In the Xcel Silver competition, Alyssa Ayan, Tom Allen, and Zachary Weiner placed top 3 in several of their events including the all-around.  For Xcel Platinums, we had a strong showing as Malia Lewton, Roxanne Mayali, Ari Pasha, Constance Zanze and Kristina Ma also placed top 3 within their division, including Kristina tying for first place all-around. In the Level 8 competition, Sarah Mackey was able to place 1st on vault after flipping her Tsukahara, a difficult vault that requires both power and technique. Lastly, for the women's Level 9 division, Tessa Gluckman’s stunning upgraded floor routine placed 2nd overall.

The Tritons have a lot to be proud of after competing in Pauley Palooza and cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has to offer, especially as they head to Nationals in April!
