UCSD Perseveres At The Claremont Ultimate Classic
Though they had fewer players than our team is used to, UCSD Berserk put in work at the Claremont Classic this weekend. The first game against Occidental College was tough; the team was tired as it was early in the morning. The first half was a struggle to play hard, communicate, and cheer on teammates.. Players fought hard to increase the energy after half, but could not make up the difference in the end. After a close loss against a strong team, Bco worked hard to bring up their intensity, communication, and level of play. The adjustment won them the next two games and the team gelled well together. In the second game, they played smart ultimate and maintained great sportsmanship, even through a close game with a lot of officiating calls being made. A highlight of this game was a layout score in the end-zone by Jen "Lotii" Sun.
Our final game against longtime rival UCLA was a strong demonstration of how hard our team has worked. We played smart defense and had the chance to make a lot of great offensive plays during this game, especially on making end-zone calls. One challenge the team faced was a high number of sick and injured players going into the tournament, so the remaining healthy members of the team really stepped up to play hard even though they were tired and had less subs than we are typically used to. Overall, despite some challenges, UCSD performed well in this tournament and showed a lot of intensity and competition.
