Tritons Attack CSUSM Cougars, Resulting in an Epic 1-0 Finish
This past Sunday, your UCSD Tritons faced hometown foe Cal State University San Marcos in a tough, rainy battle on Muir field. Before they took to the pitch, the Tritons celebrated their four hard-working Seniors who are graduating this winter quarter. Congrats to Rachel, Maya, Cynthia and Allison (our injured lil baby Junior) for putting in work and dedicating their time to our squad! We love y’all! After the ceremony, the game started with both teams coming out tough. Cougars had decent possession, but the Tritons fought back, winning fifty-fifty balls and having opportunities up the flanks of the field. At halftime, the scoreboard sat blank at 0-0. But, the Tritons weren’t done fighting. It was on one of the many breakaways in the second half that the ball reached the feet of sophomore Ellie Price, where she hit a shot from outside of the 18 yard box and into the upper right hand corner of the net. The crowd went wild, and the Tritons’ hard work had payed off. Despite the extreme aggression brought on by the Cougars, UCSD remain composed and was able to keep attacking. The final score read 1-0, putting your UCSD Tritons at first place in their league! UCSD Women’s Club Soccer now breaks for finals season, and is looking forward to their first game back this April. GOOOOO Tritons!
