Strong Showing at the UCLA Winter Invitational
This Winter, the UCSD Club Swim Team travelled to Los Angeles for UCLA’s Winter Invitational. The Women placed fourth with 339.5 points, the Men got second with 542 points, and overall, Tritons placed second in the entire meet with a combined score of 927.5.
Tritons Allie Vela and Kyra Bernhardt were the highlights of the meet, placing first and second in the Women’s 100 Butterfly in an extremely close and exciting race. They finished with times of 1:00.88 and 1:00.89, respectively. On the Men’s side, Jason Howard took first in the Men’s 200 Yard Breaststroke in another close race. Jason pulled ahead at the very end, finishing with a winning time of 2:13.50. The Tritons finished strong in the final event of the evening, the 400 yard freestyle relay. The Women took second with a time of 4:00.20, and the Men taking first with a time of 3:20.51. Overall, the meet was a huge success and the UCSD Club Swim team continues to show improvement and drive to finally take home a First Place finish!
