    SCCVL South Regional Triumph

This past weekend, the B team made the drive up to Cal Poly Pomona to play their last round of SCCVL League play this season. This looked to be their toughest round yet; scheduled to play CSU Long Beach and Arizona State University.

The first matchup against CSULB was a battle in the start, but UCSD pulled away around the halfway mark of the first set pulling off  a  25-15 win. From then on, the team carried over their momentum into the second set and continued their dominant performance, winning the set 25-9 to secure the match 2-0.

The second matchup saw UCSD playing ASU, a well-rounded team with a lot of skilled players. Outside hitter, Andrew Benser, used his strong serve and powerful swing to help UCSD win the first set 25-17. During the second set, Blake Cornell, an opposite hitter turned middle blocker for the weekend, utilized his height to his advantage to lead the team to a 25-11 second set win. Another 2-0 match win.

Overall, this weekend was a culmination of skills they have developed and the chemistry the team has built over the season. With the 7th overall ranking in the last NCVF standings, this team has shown great promise and will now gear up for Nationals in Kansas City in April.
