President's Day Tournament
One score and eight years ago, our squidfathers brought forth on this campus, a new frisbee team, conceived in effort and energy, and dedicated to the proposition that all squids are created airy. And this weekend, the Air Squids A-team defended their home turf at UCSD’s annual President’s Day Invitational. The Squids began the tournament unable to keep their tentacles around UC Santa Cruz, whom escaped with a win (8-9), swam to a defiant win (11-5) against USC, and showed flashes of their full potential in their loss (13-9) to Oregon to finish pool play. The following day, the Squids went 2-1 in the power pools, beating crosstown rival SDSU and Illinois, but falling short to Oregon State. Ultimately, the Air Squids inked their place in 12th following losses to Oklahoma State and UCSC, leaving eager to come back stronger.
