On February 8, UCSD took on LMU in their third match of the season. After a week of practice, UCSD was ready to put their training to the test. The game began with UCSD taking an early lead. With the speed on the wing led by junior winger Fernando Harris, UCSD put 25 points on the board in the first 20 minutes of the game. This lead was not only maintained but was also extended in the first half. By the end of the first half, UCSD’s explosive offense and impenetrable defense resulted in an astounding 52 points to LMU’s 0 points.  

Coming out of half time, UCSD was fatigued but eager to not only keep their lead but extend it further. This, however, was met with resistance from LMU. In the first 5 minutes, LMU was able to finally put points on the board after several hard runs. As if woken from daze, UCSD answered LMU with several tries of their own. As the last 20 minutes of the game began, UCSD was leading LMU 71 - 7. Again, LMU showed heart and after several hard runs, they scored, increasing their score to 12. However, UCSD would allow no more and scored once more before the game drew to a close. The final score was 78 - 12, UCSD’s victory. 

UCSD Men’s rugby commends LMU for their tenacity and spirit and furthermore thank them for a great game. UCSD now leads the division with an undefeated record of 3 - 0.
