San Jose State Gets Hosed in Dota 2
An unconventional mid lane strategy by SJSU did not pay off and resulted in a clean victory for UCSD in the first game of the series. UCSD’s carry player Wei (Draray) amassed a total of 20 kills and only one death in a stellar performance. UCSD employed a similarly uncommon strategy in Game 2, deciding to commit 3 players to the top lane, leaving the middle and bottom lane attended by only one player each. An ensuing melee in the top lane put UCSD’s players well ahead of their opponent, but a fierce counter pushing strategy ensured that SJSU’s team was able to keep up with UCSD’s pace. Ultimately, UCSD was able to secure control of most of the map and win the second game by cleanly wiping SJSU’s team in a well-orchestrated team-fight.
