On February 1st and 2nd, the UCSD Hunt Seat Equestrian team traveled to Gilbert, Arizona to compete in an IHSA show hosted by Arizona State University. Overall it was a successful weekend for the team. On Saturday, Danielle Bisbee and Maggie Mastrolorenzo placed 2nd and 4th respectively in an impressive class of 11 riders for intermediate flat. Haley Schlerf placed reserve in limit flat, Molly Varozza placed 3rd in novice flat, and Delia Bothe placed 6th in pre-novice flat. On Sunday, Danielle Bisbee placed 5th in intermediate flat and Maggie Mastrolorenzo finished in reserve. Danielle also placed 6th in limit fences as well as Isabella Anderson placing in reserve. Isabella and Haley both placed 3rd in a split limit flat class, while Molly Varozza and Ginevra Caswell both placed 5th in novice flat and pre-novice flat respectively. The weather was beautiful and there were many nice horses including a team favorite Jimmie, the 30-year-old saint who piloted Danielle to her 2nd place and Haley to her 3rd. A special thanks to our coach Aleena Karamally, a UCSD alumni, for all her encouragement and support.
