Tritons vs Gauchos

In the second to last game of the UCSD regular season, the Tritons faced off against the Gauchos for the second time. The game began with the typical UCSD starting lineup, with the exception of starting defender Stephanie Pineda acting as goalie. Throughout the game Pineda saved multiple goals, serving as a strong final line of defense for UCSD. Due to fouls in the UCSB defensive circle, the Tritons were awarded several short corners. UCSD capitalized on this situation by scoring a goal from the top of the circle. Another goal was scored by Alberto Montilla following an assist from Samantha Brinton. In the final minutes of the game, UCSB scored a goal in their own short corner. The final score of the game was 2-1, and UCSD was able to clench their spot in first place of the southern league.
