CoveSkipper Race - Chris Douglass
On Sunday November 3rd, 2019 I ran into the water as part of UCSD Triathlon’s CoveSkipper. It was my first race with the team, so I was really excited to try out a multi-sport race for the first time! All I was thinking was to keep swimming, and the occasional thought passed my mind that a shark might swing by. The 1,000 meter swim went by without a hitch. I was almost disappointed when it was over. Almost. I slipped off my wetsuit and cruised a 5k up and down La Jolla shores finishing the whole thing with a time of 32:16. The run was super painful, but I guess that's just part of the experience. Afterwards the team hosted a BBQ for all the racers. Getting a fresh grilled burger was the perfect way to top of the morning.
