Iron-Bruin Race
As the only member from the UCSD Triatholon team competing at UCLA’s IronBruin tournament, Paul Lathrop was determined to do his best. This year, IronBruin took place in the fall as opposed to the usual time, February. As a result, conditions were significantly warmer than last year. Coming out of the swimming portion of the event, Paul was surprised that he was actually able to put his helmet on because his hands weren’t numb. For the bike portion of the event, unfortunately, the bike course wasn’t very well marked, but he pushed himself to ride his hardest, which ultimately affected the running portion of the event. When Paul got to the run, he had almost nothing left. Though he made it to the finish line, Paul is determined to use this experience to prepare him for the upcoming season as well as motivate him to do better in this event next year.
