On Saturday, October 26, UCSD Men’s Rugby took on UCSD Alumni in a 4 quarter match at UCSD’s Warren Field. UCSD Alumni displayed a strong showing with over 20 showing up ready to play. UCSD Alumni, eager to see how the future generation of UCSD rugby would perform, began the game with an early score in the first five minutes. UCSD was quick to respond and scored not once but twice, before the ending of the first quarter. The game continued with each team unable to take the lead and by the half, the score was tied. However, as the game drew on, UCSD with its limited subs began to wear out against the Alumni with their seemingly endless reserve members. By the end of the third quarter, the Alumni stretched the lead to two scores and despite UCSD’s efforts to retaliate, kept it until the end of the game. The Alumni and their experience coupled with their numbers, was enough to send them home with a victory against UCSD men’s rugby. UCSD men’s rugby thanks the Alumni for their time and the experience and will see them again next year.
