    Cross Town Rivalry

In a match full of energy from both teams, UCSD fall to their rivals USD in the first game of the season. USD took the early lead with 3 goals in the first half from some well taken set pieces, but UCSD pulled one back before halftime after Winger Rohan Oprisko slotted the ball into the goal, assisted by Grad Student Kyle Vigil. UCSD's goal sparked some fire in the team, as the Tritons started to press higher and apply more pressure onto USD. The second half started with as much energy as before, as well as more physical. The Tritons were not able to secure a comeback, however, as a well-taken far-post freekick from USD put them back up with a 3 goal advantage. The game finishes as is, a 4-1 loss for the Tritons. Although disappointing, the Tritons have a lot to take away and have two more important games during the following weekend as they look to secure a spot for Regionals.
