2/22/25 - Home Game Against Claremont

The Tritons showed up bright and early on February 22nd to get ready for their home game against the Claremont Foxes. The team started strong, with the forward captain Lina Luedi scoring within the first 3 minutes. As the game continued on, the Tritons got pushed back within 5 meters of their own try zone by the Foxes, but a sudden steal by Patricia Ayala quickly turned the tide of the half. The team made their exit which paved the way for Mia Taylor to bolt towards the try line and gain a penalty try. As the team was able to consistently keep it within Claremont’s 50, Sophia Trujillo, known for being a force to be reckoned with, scored a try to finish out the first half.

Going into the second half, the Tritons aimed to keep up the pace. Darya Massih affirmed this by scoring a try within the first 8 minutes. Andrea Mota had many great runs through Claremont’s defensive line. However, she was struck down by the Foxes and was subbed out due to an ankle injury. Shortly after, Soph was also taken out by a knee injury while taking the ball in. Down two players, Autumn Hogan and McKenzie Neumman took to the pitch for the rest of the second half. Despite the loss of two valued players and a shift in the lineup, the Tritons were able to power through by relying on their skills and their practice together as a team. They created a solid defensive line, with many players making hard hits to bring down the Foxes. It was a close game within the second half, but the Tritons came out victorious with a final score of 31-27, marking the Tritons’ third win of the season.
